Dave Higgs

Dave has had a career of two halves, starting in the quality departments of a succession of medium sized engineering companies supplying the automotive industry, where he first started using statistical methods to improve processes. He also learned the pitfalls of old style inspection regimes first hand, spending many a twilight hour re-working components to fulfil orders as the waiting lorry driver glanced impatiently at his watch.

He moved to the rail industry in 1992 and his background lies in performance management and analysis at both Train Operating Company and Headquarters levels. His various roles have included leading and facilitating improvement projects as well as applying statistical methods and presenting data at all levels throughout the industry. Dave was a customer of the UIC and worked on the specification, development and implementation of rail performance information systems before jumping the fence in 2004.

His spare time is spent enjoying family life and fronting R&B band The Valvolines in pubs and clubs around the Midlands.
