Dave Higgs

Dave's never-ending quest for improvement started in the quality department of an engineering company in the Black Country who supplied components to the automotive industry. The majority of his work involved standing at the end of the production line sorting out 'the good ones from the bad ones'. As his career progressed he encountered the work of Dr Deming and Statistical Process Control. Initially, he had no idea of its origins and only a basic understanding of its benefits.

However, in 1992 the small amount of knowledge he'd gained was enough for him to embark on a career in the railway industry in operational performance management - where he discovered that what he'd learned previously was actually rather useful - and he set about applying it to improve the punctuality of trains. After lots more learning, including numerous encounters with the UIC, Dave joined us in 2004.

After 8 years of doing good work for good people he re-joined the railway industry in 2012 and can currently be found applying 30 plus years of learning to improve the experience of rail passengers in the West Midlands. Dave is able to help us out on a very limited number of occasions each year and brings his statistical expertise with him.
