30 January 2026 Pantograph collapse in Brno |
Tatra T6A5 trams 1217 and 1218 at Modřice Smyčka on a route 2 service to Židenice Stará
Osada.

Shortly after leaving Hlavní Nádraží, there was a very
loud bang on the roof of 1218 - I thought we'd brought the wires down - and we came to a
stand at 12.27. After a couple of minutes, everyone was turfed off. The pantograph had
collapsed and doubled back on itself. The contact wire must have acted like a spring.

This is what it should look like.

The engineers were on the scene in 10 minutes. All
lines blocked.

The errant pantograph is secured.

Empty to depot at 12.45, incident resolved in 18
minutes start to finish.
